Apple iPads Still doesn’t Support the Calculator App

Apple iPads initially did have a calculator app for its first device. For some reason, Steve Jobs didn’t like the calculator app which was there on the first Apple iPad. One of the reason which can be identified is that, the calculator app looked stretched in the device.

Steve Jobs asked the then Senior Vice President (SVP) of iOS Software, Scott Forstall to either bring a new design to the calculator app or to take the application out from the device.

With the next Apple iPad launching in a few weeks, Forstall was sure that he won’t be able to come up with a new design and took the decision of taking out the calculator app.

It’s already 2023 and Apple still hasn’t brought the calculator app back to the devices.

Even if calculators are such an important application used by users of all age groups, Craig Federighi, the Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Apple made it clear that they don’t understand why a user would use a calculator in an Apple iPad.

Apple still doesn’t have any plans to bring the calculator app back to its iPads. Let’s just hope that in the future Apple comes up with a new calculator app and brings it back its devices.
