Pixel watch can’t be charged with phone or standard Qi wireless pad
Google entered the smartwatch market recently by launching its all-new Google Pixel watch.
Pixel watch comes with a small wireless charger in the box, but Pixel watch does not support wireless charging from any other wireless charger except for the one provided in the box.
The source of this information is Google itself. Google posted the following statement on 9to5google –
Qi charging is not supported on the Pixel Watch. There may be some charging configurations where reverse wireless or Qi charging appears to work. This will be very device and charger specific and is not guaranteed to provide a consistent, steady or strong charge. Note that in some cases, this could cause the device to discharge while on charger. Pixel Watch only supports charging with the inbox charger provided.
Placing the Google Pixel watch on a smartphone that supports reverse charging or a Qi charging pad, shows that it is charging.
But the watch does not get charged, in-real the watch is discharged.
This is the issue in the Pixel watch because of the small size of its internal wireless charging coil.
So, we recommend charging the Pixel watch with the chargers provided in the box.
