Review: Here is my take on the newly launched TWS GOVO GoBuds 945

So today, I am going to present to you all the new budget-friendly TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds by GOVO called GoBuds 945. These earbuds were recently launched in India via Amazon, and they come at a highly competitive price point of Rs 1,119. Before I begin sharing my experience of using these earbuds, let me first talk about my initial impressions of them.

First Impression

The GoBuds 945 truly live up to their name, “Go Buds,” as they are always ready for you to pick them up. One aspect that sets them apart is their impressive battery backup, which I will discuss in this article. Additionally, the chrome finish on the GoBuds 945 adds to their aesthetic appeal, making them visually striking. The case is exceptionally well-designed, and despite my attempts to scratch it, it remained unscathed. These earbuds are also lightweight, and I didn’t experience any discomfort while using them. However, I did find it a bit challenging to determine which earbud was meant for the right side and which one was for the left side, as there are no markings on the earbuds themselves.

Design and Features

As mentioned earlier, these earbuds are incredibly lightweight(50G with the case), ensuring a comfortable wearing experience even during extended use. These are made from ABS plastic which is non-toxic and safe to use in a variety of ways. They are available in two distinct colors: black (the one I am currently using) and white. Personally, I find the white variant to be more classy, but color preferences may vary. I tested these earbuds with both an iPhone and an Android device to see if there were any notable differences, but I found no discernible distinctions. The case has a pebble-like design and easily fits in pockets.

Upon opening the case, the GoBuds 945 instantly enters pairing mode, ready to connect with your devices. Connecting them was a breeze, requiring only a few clicks on my cellphone, as the earbuds were already listed in the Bluetooth devices. Additionally, when you place the earbuds back into the case, they automatically disconnect from the main device. Opening the case lid again triggers an automatic reconnection, providing a seamless user experience.

These earbuds also offer a fast charging option, which means a 5-minute of charge can give you around 120 minutes of playtime.

The GoBuds 945 offers convenient access to both Google Voice Assistant and Siri with just four taps on either side of the earbuds. Although these earbuds do not feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), they do come with QUAD MIC Environment Noise Cancelling support. I found the noise-canceling capability to be quite effective as the person on the other end of the call could hear my voice clearly without any background noise.

Additionally, these earbuds have a gaming mode that can be activated by tapping either earbud four times. To deactivate the gaming mode, the same process can be followed. Unfortunately, there is no app control available for these earbuds. I want to note that I played Call of Duty on the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite with the gaming mode enabled, and it did make a noticeable difference in the gaming experience.

During my usage, I also tested the claim mentioned in the brochure that these earbuds have a latency of 60ms. I can confirm that the stated latency was accurate. Please refer to the screengrab below for confirmation.

If you do a workout like I do which is around 2 hours daily and sweat a lot, then also these buds will be a true companion as they come with IPX5 protection. I didn’t face any issues while exercising as these fit quite nicely inside your ears. Plus, I also got 2 additional ear muffs which I think might be necessary because not everyone has the same ear size.

It has a USB Type-C port for charging, and an indicator light in front of the lid, just below the GOVO logo. However, there is no pairing button on the charging case, and the earpieces do not have wear-detection sensors.

Featuring 12mm drivers, the GOVO GoBuds 945 offers a rated sensitivity of 110dB and a frequency response range of 20-20,000Hz. These earbuds connect via Bluetooth 5.3 and support the HSP, HFP, A2DP, and AVRCP codecs for seamless connectivity.

Sound Quality and Battery life

This is the most crucial aspect that determines the quality of earbuds. Considering the price point of these earbuds, the sound quality is quite impressive. Being in-ear earbuds, they naturally provide some level of noise isolation. While the noise-blocking capability is generally good, if your gym plays music at a high volume, some external noise may still seep in. However, overall, you will enjoy the bass, although it’s worth noting that the thump may not be extremely pronounced. To test the sound quality, I played “CrashLand Weaopans (Unzam Remix)” and found it to be quite enjoyable with its 3D sound. As a useful tip, I recommend turning on the Gaming Mode while working out as it can enhance your experience significantly.

A major plus point I would say is the mega battery size of the charging case which is 400mAh and each earbud is 35mAh. This in turn is going to offer you nonstop music for up to 7 hours and with a charging case it will be increased to a total playable time of up to 52 hours.

Final Verdict

In conclusion, I would say that my overall experience with these earbuds has been quite nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my workout sessions without worrying about the earbuds falling out. The gaming mode is definitely a noteworthy feature as it enhances the audio experience. These earbuds have become my new gym partner, and I’ve even given them a name.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and aesthetically appealing design
  • Seamless pairing and connectivity
  • Impressive battery backup with extended playtime
  • Effective noise-canceling for clear calls
  • Good sound quality, particularly considering the price
  • Gaming mode enhances the audio experience during gameplay

Cons:

  • No clear markings on the earbuds to know which one is for which ear(But you can check the inside of the charging case)

Overall, the GOVO GoBuds 945 earbuds offer great value for money, providing a satisfying audio experience, convenient features, and long-lasting battery life.
