What is an AMOLED Screen and Why is it Better than an LCD Screen?
It has only been quite a while since we started to get exposed to AMOLED screens and the display it offers. The screen produces brighter colors compared to an LCD screen, which is why people prefer AMOLED screens.
The AMOLED screen is simply a modified OLED Screen. It stands for “active-matrix organic light-emitting diodes”. The AMOLED screens have thin strips of TFT or thin film transistors behind each and every pixel.
These transistors help in conducting electricity faster which helps in activating the pixels faster. This is also the reason why AMOLED screens are preferred for larger displays.
The AMOLED screens also have more refresh rates than any other screens. This will provide better gaming and viewing experience for its users.
The screen also has a great viewing angle and will consume lesser energy.
Their construction is also on the thinner side and will produce more colors with greater contrast ratios between the lightest and darkest parts of the screen.
Both AMOLED screens and LCD screens make use of liquid crystals but produce light differently. The AMOLED screens have their own miniature LED light source but the LCD screens on the other hand consist of a panel of fluorescent lamps placed behind the screen.
This makes LCD screens thicker than AMOLED screens. This also makes LCD screens consume more energy than AMOLED screens.
The LED lights in AMOLED screens however is more superior to the fluorescent lamps in LCD screens. This is why AMOLED screens are able to offer sharper picture quality compared to LCD screens.
All these reasons definitely make AMOLED screens better than LCD screens without any doubts.
