Vivo X100 Ultra likely to feature 200MP periscope telephoto camera, launch timeframe tipped
Earlier this month, Vivo unveiled its flagship smartphones, the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro, in China. Both devices boast the cutting-edge Dimensity 9300 chipset. The X100 Pro+, anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, was not unveiled alongside the X100 duo. While some reports suggested a first-quarter 2024 launch for the X100 Pro+, a recent leak indicates a second-quarter release. Additionally, another leak has shed light on the device’s periscope telephoto camera.
According to a Chinese leaker, the device will be unveiled in April 2024. Interestingly, the tipster has labelled it as the Vivo X100 Ultra rather than the X100 Pro+. The new moniker positions it as a rival to smartphones like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which is anticipated to be released in the same month.
At the same time, tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that the said device will be equipped with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a focal length of around 100mm. In addition, the camera will come with support for 200x digital zoom.
Like its rivals, including the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the OPPO Find X7 Pro, and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, the Vivo X100 Ultra is also expected to sport a quad-camera setup. Additional reports indicate that it will house a Sony LYT-900, 1-inch camera sensor, purportedly a modified version of the Sony IMX989 camera sensor. The camera setup is also expected to include an IMX598 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and an IMX758 50-megapixel portrait lens, as per previous leaks.
