Elon Musk confirms that the Starship orbital launch pad will be far superior to the 39A Spaceflight Ground system. In a tweet, he said that 39A is a hallowed spaceflight ground system.
He was basically replying to a tweet that said Splendid! 39A is a rock star launch complex. Close mirror to Starbase’s OLS, with a Tower and Mechzilla, etc? Starship construction at Starbase and ship vehicles to the Cape? So many questions.
To this, he replied by saying 39A is hallowed spaceflight ground – no place more deserving of a Starship launchpad! Will have similar, but improved, ground systems & towers to Starbase.

The first of Launch Complex 39’s two launch pads, located at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida, is Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A). The pad, along with Launch Complex 39B, was built for the Saturn V launch vehicle, which is still the most powerful rocket in the United States. The pad, which has been leased by SpaceX and modified to support their launch vehicles since the late 1960s, was previously used to launch NASA’s crewed spaceflight flights.
