A recent occurrence which took place at the north pole of the sun has not just baffled the whole world, but also the scientists who themselves have been watching and studying the sun for all these years.
However, they have also assured that there is nothing to worry about as occurrences like this are usually when the sun completes its solar cycle which spans 11 years. The sun had already been spitting X class and M class flares, which are considered the biggest flares from coming out of its surface, starting from the beginning of January of 2023 itself and the recent occurrence should be considered as part of it.
The sun’s prominence is plasma filaments that extend from the surface of the sun and the broken piece from one of the prominences at the north pole circled around the north pole for over 8 hours at 60-degree latitude at a speed which is calculated to be 96 kilometers or 60 miles per second.
According to scientists who’ve observed the sun’s activities claim that the sun is at the cusp of solar maximum, which is the time at which the sun is at its most active state. The magnetic poles of the sun also will switch places and the reversal of polarity occurs as well
It is also to note that, Scott McIntosh, the Solar Physicist at the US National Center for Atmospheric Research and who has also been observing the sun’s activities for decades has said that, it is the first time he himself is seeing such an event.
