A total of ₹9023 crores would be spent on the Gaganyaan Program 2024
India is ready to complete yet another historic space exploration feat. The first human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan, is slated to launch in 2024, according to Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology. ISRO will launch a three-person crew into space for a manned space mission to a 300–400 km low Earth orbit (LEO). A total of ₹9023 crores would be spent on the Gaganyaan Program.
According to ISRO, the Gaganyaan program aims to demonstrate domestic capability for LEO human spaceflight missions. The Human Spaceflight Program’s basis will be useful for future Indian human space exploration. The Government of India (GoI) has approved two unmanned missions and one manned mission as part of ISRO’s ambitious space objective.
Before the human mission, ISRO will launch two unmanned missions that are essential for technological demonstration, safety testing, and dependability assessment. These pre-missions, according to accounts, are meticulously instrumented to evaluate system performance before the crewed flight. ISRO will be responsible for the creation of the systems, coordination of the overall program, and execution. Several private parties are also assisting in the mission’s success.
Astronaut trainees are chosen from a pool of test pilots based on criteria developed jointly by ISRO and the Indian Air Force, which include flying experience, fitness, psychological testing, and aeromedical evaluation (including anthropometric parameters).
Following the successful completion of the Gaganyaan program, ISRO will focus on building the capability for a sustained human presence in space. A dedicated space station may soon significantly improve India’s space exploration. The Indian Space Station will serve as a platform for scientific and business research by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in a range of fundamental, practical, and engineering fields.
