After successfully launching JWST, NASA’s next telescope to be launched via SpaceX Falcon Heavy

On Friday, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration looking forward to launch the next telescope after James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) becomes successful in being placed in orbit.

NASA recently awarded SpaceX the tender to provide launch service for its upcoming telescope mission called Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission.

According to HD Tech, It is a top priority large space mission that was suggested for more than a decade old Astronomy and Astrophysics Decadal Survey 2010.

It is an indefinite delivery contract, costing around $255 million for NASA to launch the next telescope. However, this also involves launching services and other mission-related expenses. According to the contract, NASA is all set to launch its next telescope on SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

SpaceX on its official Twitter account has tweeted, “NASA has selected Falcon Heavy to launch the Roman Space Telescope, which is designed to study dark energy and dark matter, search for and image exoplanets, and more. Liftoff is targeted for no earlier than October 2026 from Launch Complex 39A in Florida.”

“This telescope mission follows the $10 billion James Webb Space Telescope mission which was launched last year in December with an aim to search for early galaxies and habitable planets. Now almost after five years, this new telescope will be launched into the skies which will investigate questions on cosmology,” a source as per HD Tech.
