Deviation in ISRO’s SSLV-D1 launch, on board satellites no longer useful
A new ISRO rocket that was launched today faced technical complications. This led to the two satellites that were on board in the rocket to get placed in an unstable orbit. The two satellites are no longer usable. The objective of the mission wasn’t fulfilled.
The space agency identified the issue and informed that there was a failure of a logic to identify a sensory failure and go for a salvage action caused the deviation.
ISRO will wait for recommendations from an agency’s committee who will analyse the situation. Soon ISRO will thus come back with SSLV-D2.
This was a small rocket launcher that was conceived and implemented within a short period of time. The SSLV was carrying along with it an Earth Observation Satellite-02 and a co-passenger satellite AzaadiSAT.
The AzaadiSAT was developed by a student team of Space Kidz India. Space Kidz India is a government organization that creates basic knowledge and understanding of space in students of government school.
The AzaadiSAT’ satellite had 75 payloads. It was built by 750 school students to mark the 75th Anniversary of Independence. The launch of the SSLV-D1 was also witnessed by the girl students who designed the satellite. The launch took place at the spaceport in Sriharikota.
