Fascinating aurora image shared by NASA, taken from International Space Station

NASA shares the fascinating image of the Southern Lights or auroras which gaining a lot of attention from internet users.

The image was captured from the International Space Station as it traveled 434 kilometers (270 miles) in orbit well above the Indian Ocean near Antarctica.

It was photographed by NASA astronaut Bob Hines, who is currently traveling on the International Space Station (ISS).

Bob on his Twitter account also shares the images and tweets, “Absolutely SPECTACULAR aurora today!!! Thankful for the recent solar activity resulting in these wonderful sights!”

Besides Earth, there are auroras on other planets. A planet with an atmosphere and magnetic field is likely to have auroras. Recently, the fifth planet of the solar system, Jupiter displayed some stunning auroras.

On April 27, Hines, Kjell Lindgren, Jessica Watkins, one European astronaut named Samantha Christoforetti, and two other NASA astronauts landed at the space station.

SpaceX on April 27th launched the Crew-4 mission from the Kennedy Space Center with these four astronauts as part of it.

The consequences of the sun’s approaching most active phase of its solar cycle are already being felt on Earth, particularly in the polar regions, Mashable India reports.
