Hubble jots down size of the nearest Earth-sized exoplanet, the LTT 1445Ac

We are often reminded that we are just tiny beings in the vast wonderful cosmos. Our Earth in the Solar System is just one planet among many other constituents. Outside the Solar System, there exists a world that our imagination cannot ponder upon. In that world, other planets are still mysteries to humankind. Such planets outside the Solar System are known as Exoplanets.

In recent developments, NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope managed to measure the size of one such exoplanet. The LTT 1445Ac was measured by the Telescope and NASA states that the exoplanet amounts to a true size of only 1.07 times Earth’s diameter. This is the nearest Earth-sized exoplanet.

On the other hand, the said exoplanet bears approximately the same surface gravity as Earth. The observations by Hubble conclude that the exoplanet is a rocky world. It possesses a surface temperature of about 500 degrees Fahrenheit, which is too hot for life according to Earth’s ecosystems.

The said planet orbits around the star known as LTT 1445A, which exists about 22 light-years away in the Eridanus constellation. According to reports, the LTT 1445A star also has two other planets which are larger than LTT 1445Ac.

The LTT 1445Ac planet was first spotted by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) in the year 2022. However, the observation couldn’t gather accurate measures of the planet.
