Indian astro photographer Soumyadeep Mukherjee captures photos of green comet: Check details here!
The discovery of a green comet known as Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) happened in March, 2022. The astronomers working at Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) at the Palomar Observatory in California discovered this comet. Astro photographers have started capturing stunning pictures of the comet as it is set to reach its closest point to Earth on 2nd February, 2023. An Indian astro photographer has also captured its photos and titled this project ‘Three Days in the Life of a Comet’. The images were captured between 27th December, 2022 and 29th December, 2022. He made use of Takahashi FSQ 106 ED telescope and a FLI PL16083 camera to capture these images. He also used Astrodon LRGB filters for the same. The pictures have been captured from the IC Astronomy Observatory which is located in the Tabernas desert in Spain. It is one of those places on Earth which are said to have the most clear nights.
An online site space.com contacted Mukherjee whereby he told their team about his journey of two years as an amateur astro photographer. He has been fond of the night sky. He also mentioned that he likes capturing photos of sky-bound things.
There’s more that you should know about this stunning green comet. Firstly, the comet has a super long orbital period. It has not been seen from the planet Earth in the past 50,000 years which is a lot beyond our imagination.
If you are a space enthusiast, you must bear in mind that spotting comets such as this one are a rare sighting.
