Last round of tests for NASA and ISRO’s collaborative NISAR mission to be done this week, NISAR mission to be launched early 2024

We updated you on October 31, 2023, that the NISAR mission, NASA, and ISRO’s collaborative mission will be launched in early 2024. The NISAR mission stands for NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar mission.

The latest reports assert that the NISAR mission has been significantly pacing up towards its launch, and the world will see the same in early 2024.

According to recent reports, the final tests for the NISAR mission are scheduled to be carried out this week. The same was asserted by Paul A. Rosen, Project Scientist for NISAR at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory recently to ‘The Hindu’. He affirmed that the team is on the right track. He further stated that the vibration test was completed on Saturday.

If you are not aware of the NISAR mission, the mission’s objective is to carry out a detailed observatory view of the earth. With the help of an Earth observatory satellite, observations of various natural processes and changes in the complex ecosystems of the earth will be studied.

With the use of a synthetic aperture radar, the mission will scan the earth’s land and icy regions, twice every 12 days.

The observatory will be further equipped with an L-band (long wavelength) SAR payload system by NASA and an S-band (short wavelength band) by NASA.
