Researchers discovered about 7000 Kgs of human waste on the red planet
Mars always fascinates us, be it in the case of Indian mythology or Hollywood sci-fi movies. Humans first started investigating Mars about 50 years ago, and by the 2030s, NASA plans to send a mission with people to explore the planet for the first time.
Although it has been a time taking process for humans to step onto Mars, however, we, humans, are not lagging behind to litter Mars more like Earth.
Cagri Kilic, a postdoctoral research researcher in robotics at West Virginia University, claims that more than 7118.6 kg of human waste has already been left behind by individuals during their ambitious robotic expeditions to Mars.
This estimate was made by assessing the mass of all Mars rovers and orbiters, which was then deducted from the mass of the ones that were still in use.
In mid-August 2022, NASA stated that Perseverance Mars rover had found garbage which has been dumped after landing. However, this was not the first time they discovered garbage on the red planet. But it has been found several times.
