Today “April 12” is a special day in the history of Science

Today we mark the celebration of first manned flight to space and a special day in the history of science. On April 12, 1961, Russian astronaut, Yuri Gagarin did the first manned flight to space. The spaceflight was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome and the total flight time was for 108 minutes.

It was a victory of not just the soviet union but victory of the mankind to reach the ever-expanding space. The flight started at 9:07 MSK, circled and landed at 10:55 MSK. It was a time of cold war when both superpowers of that time “USSR” and “USA” were fighting to be the first to reach space race.

Every space agency around the globe has been celebrating this special day in the history of science and is looking towards the future of mankind for space in the distant future.
