United Arab Emirates Hope spacecraft high resolution camera captures the image of Mars’ smaller moon

The United Arab Emirates Hope spacecraft has revealed the new side of Mars’ smaller moon Deimos. This image reveals some of the craters and a particular shape thus giving scientists support for its theory of mysterious origin. The image of the Deimos, Mars’ smaller moon, was shared by the Emirates Mars Mission on Monday. The Hope Probe has been orbiting around Mars since February 9, 2021, with a mission to understand the planet’s weather patterns and climate. The team occasionally uses the spacecraft’s high-resolution camera, called Emirates eXploration Imager(EXI) to capture the images of Mars’ moon.

This time it has captured the image of the Mars’ moon Deimos far side which shows the craters and a large indented area. Hope Probe took the image from as close as 100km from the surface of the moon. An “impact capture” named hypothesis says that Phobos and Deimo’s moon of Mars was once an asteroid held by Mars, over time both of the asteroids became moons of Mars. Mars continues to be an object of keen interest, countries have either launched their mission or they are working on it day and night to study Mars. If we talk about India, it has become the fourth space agency to successfully send spacecraft to Mars orbit.
