If the system sounds of your Pixel 5 are annoyingly noisy, a new update can fix that issue

As one of its January Pixel fixes, Google may have resolved a problem that meant that Pixel 5 device sounds might be a lot quieter than you might have wanted.

After the Pixel 5 launch in October, several users on Reddit and Google’s own support forums have stated that Pixel 5 device noises (like the camera shutter or the sound you hear when you take a screenshot) may be very noisy, even though the phone’s volume was set to a lower setting.

In the release notes for the January Pixel changes, however, Google states that the Pixel 5-specific update involves “further tuning & improvement for system volume level sounds.” A few Reddit users confirmed that the system sounds are now louder after downloading the update, but others say the sounds are now too quiet.

The release notes also list other updates, including auto-brightness enhancements to Pixel 4A, 4A 5G, and 5.

Google says updates are now being carried out to all supported Pixel smartphones running Android 11.
