What is Different About DeepSeek, ChatGPT, and Gemini AI Models?

The tech world is now filled with news regarding the newest AI chatbot from DeepSeek and how it has turned out to be a strong competitor for the widely used chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini, among others. So what is different about the three. This article will be taking you through some of the areas where these three are different from each other.

Read more about it below.

DeepSeek vs ChatGPT vs Gemini

DeepSeek

Firstly about DeepSeek, it is comparatively newer to the AI sphere, but as reported earlier, has gained the attention of many and has already topped the list of most downloaded apps on iOS App Store in many countries. It operates on an open-sourced model, and the DeepSeek R1, the brand’s first major version of its AI, offers the same or better performance when compared with its direct competitors – OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

On benchmarks, with topics or discussions related to math, general knowledge, and question answering, DeepSeek performed very well, however, when it comes to queries and questions about sensitive political incidents and events that occurred in China, the AI wouldn’t give a reliable answer and might simply skip from answering. To add, it is also said to be good at creating Java and Python codes, and also to solve complex equations too.

In terms of development cost too, DeepSeek took only a fraction of what OpenAI and Google have invested in AI development. Reportedly DeepSeek investment is claimed to be only USD 6 million (~ INR 51 crore) when compared with the billions invested by both OpenAI and Google.

A free version of the DeepSeek AI is available to users who assist in general information and problem solving, whereas the paid version only costs USD 5 for the monthly subscription.

ChatGPT

When it comes to ChatGPT from OpenAI, for the monthly subscription it would cost USD 20 per month for users to get the paid version, while a free version is also there with limited features. When compared with DeepSeek AI, OpenAI’s ChatGPT would turn out to be better with global events and recent happenings. It is also far better than DeepSeek while dealing with marketing copy, jokes, or storytelling.

But it should also be noted that there are reportedly wrong responses being generated by ChatGPT with certain persistent biases on certain matters due to the materials it was initially trained with.

Gemini

Finally about Gemini by Google, it notably has a much-praised and simple user interface, and comes with features or capabilities such as video/picture/music generation, response to queries, analyse documents, and most importantly, the feature to both write and run Python codes within its interface.

The Gemini 1.5 is its free version and users can get the Gemini Advanced paid version for USD 22.45 per month to enjoy and make use of all its capabilities and features.
