What is Satellite Connectivity on Phones, Few Supported Latest Devices, and How to Use it; Why is Everyone Talking About DeepSeek AI?

In recent times, we have seen many new features coming to smartphones and one of the key features that have been brought to premium or flagship devices is the satellite connectivity support. While this feature may not be useful to all, it might become a lifesaver for many in particular situations. This article will take you through what satellite connectivity on phones is, few of the latest devices that were launched lately with this feature, and on how to use it.

Additionally, the article will also inform you why people are currently talking about the Chinese DeepSeek AI platform and what is happening with it that is causing a lot of discussion.

Satellite Connectivity on Phones

As mentioned, satellite connectivity on phones may not be a feature that will come in handy for a normal urban user, but if the user is a traveler or an adventurer who goes out to remote locations where network connectivity is poor for hiking or trekking, this would turn out to be a very useful feature, even becoming a lifesaver in certain scenarios. So far, this feature is seen usually only on flagship smartphones and mostly it is limited to just messaging and sending SOS alerts, however, few devices are also offering calling function and more with it now.

Late last year and early this year, many new flagships from different brands were launched with this feature and few of them are the Google Pixel 9 series, Apple iPhone 16 series, Vivo X200 Pro, OPPO Find X8 Pro, Xiaomi 15 Pro, Honor’s Magic 7, Magic 7 Pro, Magic 7 RSR Porsche Design, & X60 Pro, Huawei’s Mate 70 series, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+, Pura 70 Ultra, & Mate XT, and the Galaxy S25 series (with Verizon) models. The predecessors of most of these mentioned devices too came with this feature, and many more device are also available in market currently with satellite connectivity.

So how to use it, in most cases, both in iOS and Android devices, users will just have to navigate to ‘Settings’ and find the ‘Satellite’ feature. There, a demo will be provided and one just has to follow it to access satellite connectivity features. In most cases, users will be asked to register the phone with a satellite network and then tilt the device in the particular direction to pick up the satellite signal.

DeepSeek AI Facing a Large-Scale Cyber Attack

DeepSeek is considered to be a new Chinese AI platform in this sphere, but has quickly gained the attention of many for being something that matches or that outperforms many of the services and features offered by its competitors at a relatively lower charge. Just recently, on the iOS App Store, DeepSeek AI Assistant app became the top downloaded app overtaking ChatGPT, however, it is now a victim of a larger-scale cyber attack.

Following this, the company has reportedly stopped registrations on its chat platform and the issue is believed to be a DDoS attack (distributed denial of service attack) against its web chat platform and API. In related news, the cyber security firm – KELA also informed that while DeepSeek AI platform bears similarities with ChatGPT, it is very vulnerable to threats and the firm’s AI Red Team was able to jailbreak it across multiple scenarios and perform several malicious activities.

Existing users can still use DeepSeek’s AI platform and even though registrations are not ongoing, new users may still log in with a Google account. However, do note that details concerning the users’ name, email ID, profile image, and more may be shared when doing so.
