Why Budget 2021 should make room for the introduction of technology and robotics
Budget 2021 should concentrate on improving competitiveness by promoting the use of technology to make India’s ‘Atmanirbhar’ and future-ready, an official with industrial autonomous and AI technologies said on Sunday. To date, India has seen the very low acceptance of robotics relative to its regional and global peers.
According to a recent report, the total number of jobs related to the production and implementation of emerging technology, such as automation, AI and robotics-related applications, may rise to 20 to 50 million globally by 2030 and more than 375 million globally.
“Reduction of customs duty/IGST and providing tax breaks/incentives to robotics adopters can boost demand,” Hi-Tech Robotic Systemz founder & CEO Anuj Kapuria said.
It is one of the country’s first companies in the field of industrial autonomous and AI technology.
“For accelerating technology and R&D, setting up of robotics centres of excellence, incubation centres, continued research grants for robotics R&D and continuation of income tax deduction will be the key drivers,” he said.
Timely policy initiatives will promote the use of robotics in production and storage. The emphasis should be on warehouse automation, where we have seen an improvement in consumer traction.
Kapuria said that these could raise the confidence of technology-driven market players and enhance the Government’s vision of Making India Global and Atmanirbhar Bharat, as well as making a remarkable contribution to the creation of jobs, making Indian industry more competitive and surpassing global standards.
