Alleged Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Chipset Made Its First Appearance On Geekbench

Qualcomm will announce its flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October at Qualcomm Summit 2024. Ahead of its launch, an alleged benchmark listing of Qualcomm Reference Design(QRD) has come out with its Geekbench listing.

The alleged Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset has appeared with the Manufacturer Model” name. This chipset has managed to score 2,884 in the single-core test and 8,840 in the multi-core test. The result appeared to be based on a reference device. As per the listing, its octa-core CPU architecture is like 6 cores clocked at 2.78GHz and 2 cores clocked at 4.09GHz. The reference device that has appeared on Geekbench runs Android 15 OS and packs 12GB RAM.

As per the report, the mass-produced retail units can come with higher performance than we just saw. Qualcomm has used new architecture for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. It will use a custom Oryon CPU design that is similar to the strategy that Qualcomm used in the Qualcomm X series processor for PC. This improvement in performance is likely to come at an increased cost that can make the upcoming flagship phones more expensive than they are now. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo elaborates on the reason behind it by saying that TSMC’s latest and advanced N3E production node for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor is the primary reason.
