Realme Folding Phone Under Works: Design Patent Spotted On China National Intellectual Property Administration Website
Last year, Realme India’s ex-vice president, Madhav Sheth, talked about a Realme foldable device on the X platform which suggested that the brand is planning to soon unveil a foldable smartphone and enter the foldable smartphone industry. But earlier this year, Realme’s chief of marketing, Francis Won revealed the company is facing some design challenges due to which a pause was put on this foldable device plan.
Well, the latest discovery by @91mobiles now reveals a different story. A Realme folding device design patent has been spotted on the China National Intellectual Property Administration website.
The above images show that the device is in a book format. While the patent description is said to mention a magnetic hinge mechanism to easily fold and unfold the device, a heat dissipation solution is said to be used in the device, that transfers heat from one side to the other depending on temperature differences between the two halves.
The above design is different from the previous patent by the company (image below).
This resembles more of a Galaxy Z Fold type design. Since it is too early to comment on anything let’s wait and watch which design will eventually be selected by the smartphone brand. Since the above design has been spotted online, it suggests that Realme is trying to overcome the design challenges and is still pursuing the plan of launching a foldable device in the near future.
