Samsun Electro-Mechanics Reportedly Completed Development Of World’s First Micro Solid-State Battery Prototype
Whenever it comes to achieving a milestone, the South Korean tech giant Samsung has always tried to be at the top whether it’s a new device or innovation. The company is now reported to once again achieve a great accomplishment as the manufacturing subsidiary of the company- Samsung Electro-Mechanics is said to have completed the development of the world’s first micro solid-state battery prototype.
This battery prototype is said to be suitable for wearable devices. As per reports, this battery is said to arrive with high density, low explosion risk, energy density that can reach 200Wh/L, and a miniaturization feature. Since this battery prototype is said to be suitable for wearable devices, it could be first used in Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch, and Galaxy Buds. It is said that the mass production of this micro solid-state battery will start in the first half of 2026.
It is believed that all solid-state batteries are safer than lithium-ion batteries as they are rechargeable with solid electrolytes filling the gap between the anode and cathode electrodes. As per a report by Patently Apple, Samsung has secured a number of patents on oxide-based all solid-state batteries. The company is said to have applied for over 40 patents overseas over the last three years. The patents included those on the composition of solid-state electrolyte which is a core material for all solid-state batteries.
