Snapdragon 8s Elite-Powered Smartphones – Tipped to Arrive From Around April 2025
Firstly looking at the previous update, Smart Pikachu, a Chinese tipster on the Weibo platform, had pointed out that the fourth generation Snapdragon 8s chip will be launched in Q1 2025 and Xiaomi was said to be the first smartphone maker to adopt it. Considering the older Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, Xiaomi’s Civi 4 Pro device was the first to feature it and therefore, the next Xiaomi Civi 5 was assumed to be the first smartphone to use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4/Snapdragon 8s Elite chip.
Now, tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed its possible model number to be ‘SM8735’, mentioning that its performance specs are ‘OK’. As per current data indicators, he notes that the Snapdragon 8s Elite chip is powerful when compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, but is weaker with respect to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance. He further adds that the first wave of smartphones with the Snapdragon 8s Elite chip onboard could be arriving around April 2025. Among the upcoming smartphones, 7000± mAh large battery devices are also said to be coming.
Speaking more, after the previous Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro was launched, the brand had also debuted its Redmi Turbo 3 smartphone too with the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. However, this time, based on reports, the Redmi Turbo 4 is tipped to launch this month, in December 2024. Surprisingly, instead of the Redmi Turbo 4, the tech world is expecting that a new Redmi Turbo 4 Pro model could be featuring the Snapdragon 8s Elite chip.
We are still a few months away from the expected Snapdragon 8s Gen 4/Snapdragon 8s Elite launch time frame and it is best to wait until more updates arrive before we jump into any conclusions. Also, the future updates might reveal more about Qualcomm’s upcoming processor as well as the devices that would be powered by it. Stay tuned.
