Upcoming Huawei Pura 80 Series to Feature New Periscope Telephoto Lens, Reveals Chinese Tipster

Huawei’s Mate 70 series and Mate X6 foldable are said to debut this month and just before this happens, a new update concerning the next Pura 80 series has been shared via a Chinese tipster on the Weibo platform. The update points to a possible camera spec.

Huawei Pura 80 Series – Tipped to Feature New Periscope Telephoto Lens

This update comes from the tipster Digital Chat Station and he has revealed that just like the one-inch telescopic lens that was introduced in the previous Pura 70 series, the upcoming Pura 80 series is probably going to sport a new periscope telephoto camera.

The Mate and Pura line-ups of Huawei are flagships series upholding two different visions. While the Mate series is concerned with offering better performance, the Pura series brings improved camera features to users. If we look into the Pura 70 series that was launched in the month of April 2024, the one-inch retractable main camera with variable aperture was a unique feature. To add, the Pura 70 series consisted of four smartphone models – the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+, and Pura 70 Ultra, among which only the Pura 70 came with a periscope telephoto camera, whereas the others featured macro telephoto lenses.

Apart from this camera spec, nothing else regarding the expected specifications of the Pura 80 series devices are known yet. However, a top-tier OmniVision OV50X camera sensor is among the expected camera specs as per certain reports. Regarding its launch, tipster Digital Chat Station suggested earlier that it could happen in Q2 of 2025, next year.

From what it seems, the tech world is currently focused on witnessing the Mate 70 series and Mate X6 debuts. After the two launches that are scheduled to take place this month in November 2024, we may be starting to hear more about the Pura 80 series devices. Stay tuned until then.
