Upcoming Redmi K80 Series Price Hike Tipped Again by Chinese Tipster; Pro Model Price Said to Increase Significantly

As it is almost going to be one year after the debut of the Redmi K70 series, reports slowly have started to arrive more about the upcoming Redmi K80 series devices. Recently, information regarding the model numbers, codename, and the global availability of Redmi K80 series were shared online and now, a Chinese tipster on the Weibo platform has tipped a possible increase in price for two of the Redmi K80 series devices that are expected to be unveiled soon.

Here’s more about the update.

Redmi K80 and K80 Pro Smartphones Price Expected to Increase

This update comes from the tipster – Digital Chat Station, and he has shared via a Weibo post that in order to control the traffic (probably meaning sales), Xiaomi will bring a possible price hike to its Redmi K80 series devices. He also adds that the Pro model’s price may drastically increase as well, and this was previously pointed out by this same tipster four months back.

Coming to few of the other recent updates, via a XiaomiTime article, it is now being said that the Redmi K80 series will probably only have two models this time and they may be made available in the global market too. For those of you who don’t know, Xiaomi’s Redmi K series has always remained exclusive to the Chinese market and rebranded versions of the smartphones that came in the POCO F series were released to global customers. Also, a previous report has also suggested that the Redmi K80 series would likely not have an ‘e’ model this time and the respective model may be brought to Redmi Note 14 series. Just to add, the Redmi K70 series was launched back in November 2023 with the K70, K70e, and K70 Pro models, and the K70 Ultra smartphone joined the series later in July 2024.

About the revealed model numbers, codenames, and expected processors, as per recent reports, the Redmi K80 device is said to have the model numbers 24122RKC7G (Global) & 24122RKC7C (China) with the codename ‘Zorn’. The K80 Pro is revealed to bear model numbers 24117RK2CG (Global) & 24117RK2CC (China), and have the codename – ‘Miro’ (previously ‘Miro’ was believed to be the K80 codename). Redmi K80 Pro is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship processorSM8750 (likely Snapdragon 8 Elite), while the K80 may have the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip (SM8650).

Just to add, there is also a third smartphone codenamed ‘Rodin’ and that is probably coming to global and Indian markets with the Dimensity 8400 processor. Another Redmi K80 series device codenamed ‘Dali’ has also been spotted, however, this device is likely to be cancelled according to reports.

In related news, the Redmi K80 Pro is revealed to have a 6000 mAh battery backup and 100W fast charge support. A flat 2K OLED 120Hz display and 50MP 3X optical zoom camera are other expected specs. A Redmi official had also stated that this time’s K80 series smartphones have been greatly upgraded and he hinted at a launch before the end of this year, probably in November or December 2024.

Stay tuned for more updates.
