X Said To Be Working On Parody Account Label; Label Will Be Visible Below Username And Posts Of Parody Accounts
Social media platform X is filled with accounts that impersonate real-life public figures like politicians, actors, sports professionals, and more. This leads in creating confusion for users sometimes. This problem seems to be now taken into consideration as tipster @nima_owji shared that X is working on the Parody Account label.
Parody accounts have to label their accounts. Otherwise, they may violate the X policy!
According to X, "The PCF label ensures people on X are not confused by your account… If not labeled, your account may violate the Misleading and Deceptive Identities policy." https://t.co/h66KLtcgrm

The tipster has also revealed that this label will be visible below the username for parody accounts and the posts shared by those accounts. It is said that Parody accounts have to label their accounts, otherwise they may violate X policy. This label will lead to less chance of someone mixing up a post from a parody account with the real person’s account.
X will be using a robot emoji to label parody accounts. This same emoji is used for the bot accounts on X as well which has raised questions among users that the same emoji for bot and parody accounts could confuse the users on the platforms more.
It is also said that if the new label is rolled out, enforcing its adoption may be difficult, as some parody accounts may choose not to use it. Meanwhile, X currently has a policy for parody, commentary, and fan accounts that allows them as long as they don’t impersonate real profiles in order to mislead or spread false information on the platform.
