Xiaomi’s Upcoming Redmi K80 Ultra and Civi 5 Pro Models May Support Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor: In Testing Phase
The Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, is reported to be testing the ultrasonic fingerprint support for its upcoming Redmi K80 Ultra and Civi 5 Pro models. This could be the first update concerning the two devices, suggesting that their launch is nearing.
Here’s more about the update.
Redmi K80 Ultra and Civi 5 Pro – Testing Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor
Firstly speaking of its older updates, the Redmi K80 series of Xiaomi has already been debuted in its home market late last month in November 2024 with the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro models, and this is possibly the first time that we are hearing about an Ultra model in the series. The previous Redmi K70 series comprised of four smartphone models – Redmi K70, Redmi K70 Pro, Redmi K70E, and Redmi K70 Ultra, among which, the former three were unveiled in November 2023 and the latter in July 2024. In related news, Xiaomi had also confirmed its return to the dual-flagship strategy with the Redmi K80 series, and an ‘e’ model did not arrive this time, but based on the new update, an Ultra model is being expected.
Regarding the Civi 5 series, unlike last time, tipster Smart Pikachu had suggested that more than one Civi model may be launched this year. So far, we have only been hearing about the Civi 5 model, which is also said to be the first Snapdragon 8s Elite/Snapdragon 8s Gen 4-powered smartphone with expected launch around April 2025. The Civi 5 series that is believed to bring Civi 5 and Civi 5 Pro models is tipped with upgraded features like a beautiful form factor design, interesting colors, improved front-facing camera, and better performance.
Now coming to the latest Weibo update from tipster Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is testing its Redmi K80 Ultra and Civi 5 Pro devices with the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Considering that the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro smartphones both supported an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, it is likely that the Ultra model would also be supporting it, bringing a full upgrade over the previous K70 series models which had optical fingerprint scanners. The same upgrade can thus also be expected in the Civi 5 Pro model as well, and with more future updates, we may be able to confirm it.
Stay tuned.
