Airtel announces it’s largest ever 5G roll-out , Airtel 5G Plus now active in 125 more cities

The telecommunication companies – Reliance Jio and Bharati Airtel launched their 5G services in the year 2022 and have started offering the 5G services in the country. Reliance Jio has been more rapid in rolling out its true 5G services and has covered 304 cities to date whereas Bharati Airtel is also leading its way as the company has now expanded its 5G footprint to 265 cities across the country with launches in 125 cities on Monday.

While announcing the Airtel 5G Plus rollout, Randeep Sekhon, CTO, of Bharati Airtel said in a statement,” At Airtel, we remain committed to delivering the highest quality of network and service to our customers as we roll out 125 more cities today. “ He further added that the companies’ 5G rollout is on track to cover all towns and key rural areas by March 2024.

Airtel is now offering its 5G services in every major city from the upper northern city of Jammu to the southern tip of Kanyakumari as per the company.

According to Airtel, their 5G service has 3 major advantages:

  • Compatible with every 5G capable phone as it is built on a widely accepted and established technology
  • Airtel promises to offer 20-30 times faster speeds than the current 4G experience and superior voice quality and rapid call connection times
  • Airtel 5G Plus network is built on an environmentally friendly solution with a unique power reduction solution

Airtel 5G Plus is now active in a total of 265 cities across the country. This is the largest single launch by Airtel since it began the phased rollout of its 5G services. The telecom company is currently offering 5G services under the existing 4G tariff, unlike Jio which has introduced a data pack for 5G users.
