India’s biggest 5G spectrum auction comes to a wrap

India’s auction of 5G spectrum ended today. The auction went on for seven days. At the end of it, spectrum worth Rs 1,50,173 crore was sold as stated by sources. 

Sources also informed that while the provisional figure for the sale proceeds is Rs 1,50,173 crore, the final numbers are still being tallied. 

The bidders in the India’s biggest ever auction included Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Gautam Adani’s Adani Data Networks. 

Sources asserted that the 1,800 Mhz frequencies saw an intense bidding by Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. The intense bidding occurred for the mentioned frequencies, mainly for the UP East Circle. 

The UP East circle comprises of almost 10 crore mobile subscribers. Thus the two rival telecommunication companies fought fiercely for the airwaves in that region. 

The 38th round of bidding for the 5G spectrum happened today. 

The 5G auction emphasizes that India has entered an intense growth phase and the industry is about to experience expansion. The Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed this earlier. 

5G or the 5th Generation would facilitate many awaiting solutions. Starting from e-health, connected vehicles, immersive AR (augmented reality) to metaverse experiences, an upgrade to 5G is going to revolutionize the Telecom industry as well as communication experience for the mass.
