iPhone, SpaceX, One Web and Bullitt is working to facilitate satellite connectivity for communication
The new iPhone 14 will reportedly feature satellite connectivity. On the other hand, Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Bharti Mittal’s One Web program from India is also working to facilitate satellite connectivity.
According to reports by BBC, a British mobile phone manufacturer would steal the limelight as they are set to release their satellite services by February 2023.
This manufacturer who is known as Bullitt has plans to walk in with a satellite connected headset. This headset will let its users to communicate via text messages in the absence of a telecom network signal.
Bullit will develop an app, which would facilitate receivers to avail SMS free of charge. This is because only the sender would be required to subscribe to the service. However, the company has not released the photos and prices of the device yet.
Satellite Phones works by connecting directly to constellation of satellites.
When one calls someone possessing a traditional phone from a satellite phone, the signal travels from the satellite phone on the ground to one of the satellites available in the line of sight.
This satellite captures and transfers the signal to another satellite available near the destination region. After that, the destination’s satellite relay the signal to a ground station (Gateway). Finally the call gets transferred to the closest Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), which delivers it to the recipient.
