No 5G for iPhone users as Airtel to provide it on all android phones
Except for Apple’s iPhones, all 5 G-enabled smartphones will support Airtel 5G services by the middle of this month, according to a senior Bharti Airtel official.
Bharti Airtel Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Gopal Vittal stated during the company’s earnings call that Apple will release the software update in the first week of November and that all of its devices should support the company’s 5G services by mid-December.
So this time Android users can enjoy the luxury of 5G and iPhone users may have to wait for some more time to get 5G services. Previously the government of India had asked all phone manufacturers to provide 5G capability on their phones. We have tried to reach out to one of the spokesperson from Apple but didn’t get a reply at the time of framing this article.
Airtel is currently offering 5G services at 4G rates, but it is expected to make a decision on pricing for next-generation services in the next 6-9 months, he added.
According to market research firm IDC, 5.1 crores of 5G smartphones were shipped between 2020 and the first half of 2022, with a 50% market share expected by 2023.
However, several 5G smartphones have been unable to access 5G services due to network and mobile phone incompatibility.
