Nokia recently posted a report that explained the 6G spectrum and what 6G has in store for us. Nokia discussed how and when 6G will arrive, what it would cater to, and other technological advancements that it would make feasible.

Nokia is now looking into the possibilities of 6G. According to Nokia, the coming of 6G will see enhancements in fundamental features of 5G, such as mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine-type communications (mMTC), and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC). 6G will provide advanced multi-sensory and immersive communications, with which the world will be able to explore the hidden possibilities of eXtended Reality (XR).
According to Nokia, 6G is likely to be available in its nascent stage by the end of this decade. Nokia-led research projects such as Hexa-X and Hexa-X-II have been working on developing the technical elements of the next generation of networks. ITU-R is expected to decide on the frequency bands and conditions of 6G in the World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC).
It is also expected that decisions on candidate spectrum bands for 6G will be taken at WRC-23.
The development of mobile generations and the industry experience has shed light on the importance of individual launch spectrum for each mobile generation. So far, we have UMTS @2GHz, LTE @2.6GHz and 5G @3.5GHz. Questions that will probably be raised in the WRC-23 would be: which frequency bands for 6G, why more spectrum, why now, and how much?
Nokia asserted by referring to studies that, cellular traffic volume will triple between 2022 and 2027.
